Role in AMR Surveillance
- Collects clinical microbiology laboratory data for NORM
- Manages the national notification system for communicable diseases (MSIS)
- High-priority resistance phenotypes submitted to designated reference laboratories
Role in AMU Surveillance
- Manages the Norwegian Prescription Database (all antimicrobials dispensed to outpatients)
- Collects data from the national drug wholesale database
- Provides human antibiotic sales and consumption data
- Contributes to veterinary antibiotic sales data for NORM-Vet
- Hosts the WHO Collaborating Center for Drug Statistics Methodology (ATC/DDD system)
